The machine's inputs are the traffic sources which generates traffic, hopefully a relevant traffic, in case your web marketers are doing a good job. The machine's outputs are the desired actions (conversions) to be made by your visitors. Desired actions can be actions such as reading or watching a specific content, submitting a lead, buying a product and more.

We trace our web visitors and monitor how visitors use the site.
As our main goal is to generate as many conversions as possible and therefore we wish to improve the conversion rate. The ration between visitor to a visitor who made the desired action and converted.
Our main web analytics tool is Google analytics which has amazing capabilities and great features. Google analytics tell us "what happened?" in our website.
In many projects we use additional tools which tell us more about "why did it happen?". Those tool may have features such as phone calls tracking, heatmaps, session's recordings, polls and surveys.
